6 Dasher info needed

So I'm trying to decide between the Dasher and the 6-250 Rem. What parent case do I use for a Dasher? How complicated is the process of making brass for the Dasher? Is it simply fire forming?

The Dasher is made off 6br brass I use Laupa but you can use Norma also I shoot a 22DASHER alot love it great brass life as well very accuarate, GREAT CARTRIDGE

This will answer all your questions on the Cream of Wheat method of making the Dasher brass.

I have used both methods, and believe the Jam and shoot method will produce more consistent cases in both length and shoulder blow.
Im sure everyone has some slight variations to their technique. This is just my opinion.

I am close to getting my dasher shooting. i need to finish my but plate. trying to save up enough money for a new Nightforce scope. but it is together enough to shoot. I fireformed some cases useing the step shoulder method and pistol powder with no bullet. i got a case about 95% formed. then i used my 6BR comp bushing neck die to deprime and neck size the case.so now i can seat the bullet into the rifleing and i can seat the 105VLD's with my 6BR redding comp bullet seater die. so im ready to shoot some again..with a full dasher charge.then i will send 3 cases to harrell's for a FL bushing die and i will go with a wilson seater die. but as of yet i have no dasher dies. I think im going to like the 6 dasher. I think useing the steped neck method to fire form the cases is really the only way to ensure you dont stretch the web of the case. now you can still jam the bullet and fire form with a 6BR powder charge with the step in the neck controlling the head space. but having 6BR dies and had a 264 mag die i used to size up to 264 then steped the neck down with my 6BR die. so i have a dasher shooting(somewhat) and havent bought a die yet.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but it might be a good idea to research what is available as far as the components you will need to shoot whatever gun you choose. Building a new gun is not cheap by no means and it would be a shame to spend all that money and not be able to enjoy it.

In my opinion, you are on the right track using the 6BR parent case for your build as it is an inexpensive round to shoot. It offers long barrel life and can be shot by anyone big or small. My daughter and I try to shoot together as much as we can and she loves her 6BR. It's easy on the shoulder and if you have the ammo, you can shoot it all day.

Again check availability of primers, powder, Brass, and bullets before you make your decision. If I didn't already have my guns and the items necessary to shoot, I would have to think long and hard about a new build.

I have had regular 22-250's; 22BRs and 6 Dashers. The 250 case in my opinion has some inherent flaws such as the taper of the case which leads to quite a bit of case length growth and donuts (fuey). If I were to make a 6-250 I would go with the Ackley improved design. The BR cases are so much more efficient without the problems and are not that hard to work with. 6 Dashers are awesome. The only advantage for the 250 cases I can see are the large rifle primers which might be better in cold weather for ignition in hunting situations.
Just my opinions tho and Best Wishes on your project.

I would not go max charge. What has worked the best for me is to expand the neck up to 6.5 with an expander...they are not that expensive. Then partially neck size back down to 6mm just enough to close the bolt. In addition I jam the bullet about 30 thou. This works very well for me with a medium charge to form about 95%. The second firing then cleans up the rest and makes the shoulders nice and crisp but after first firing you will be able to load some very accurate rounds without shoulder bumping.
Just my opinion
Best to you.

So if I do the jam method of fire forming, do you start with a max charge for the BR and jam the bullet?

Don't know if it'd be considered a max 6BR load but I take virgin Lapua brass primed with CCI-450s and load 30.5 grains of Varget with any heavy bullet and seat it .030" into the lands (hard bolt close) and fire them.
Cases come out fully formed. Blow lengths are consistent. For some reason I always get 2 split necks out of 100 new cases.
