6 Dasher inconsistent shoulder bump

11 firings on Lapua blue box and I’ve been having some inconsistencies with my annealing process I believe. I sold the Bench Source and just got an AMP.

Ran Aztec mode and annealed 97 and bumped shoulders 2 thou. I have three pieces that only bumped a half to 1 thou and I can feel them chamber with the firing pin removed.

I have the cases marked but I’m curious if I should cull them, run them through the AMP and bump again or adjust dies down, bump more and go shoot?

Try bumping them again. This time hold the press handle at the bottom of the stroke for about 3-4 seconds. Maybe the shoulder will take a set. I do this on all of my brass and it seems to bump more consistently. If that doesn't work try annealing these pieces again.

I would say blame it on the Aztec. It cannot “read” the heat necessary to properly anneal individual case. I say “Flame Away”!

Question for you Dasher guys-
is annealing an essential task while forming and maintaining the cases through the brass life?
Just curious

Consistent shoulder bump needs good lube, and applied consistently. I prefer Hornady one shot wax in the silver tin. I have found it to give the most consistent bumps among the lubes I tested. You also need to deal with slop and flex in your press. A solid cam over will fix that. Use Redding competition shell holders. Annealing is the last part, and through my testing at the bench and on target, I always annealed much more than the tempilaq would have you do.

I'm very surprised how hot the case head gets in the AMP.

I'm glad to see you mention Lube. When I tell people that they think I'm off my rocker, lube makes a huge difference.

I am not annealing currently with my BRA but I did with the Dasher and rl15, I have a Benchsource which I like. Never used the amp.

Not a Dasher guy or an annealer so there’s that...
I own three presses none have the same type of linkage. I have a Harrell’s that I consider a true cam over linkage press. Any of these presses bump a shoulder consistently as long as I complete the cycle at a steady not fast a pace. I use a small amount of Unique lube’ at the moment, if a problem arose perhaps I would look around some other’s.
