6 Dasher capibility?

Hi guys,
I know the 6 dasher is a great cartige for benchrest shooting, but do you think the dasher would be a good choice for f-class shooting? I was wandering if anyone had used the dasher in f-class matches and what their opinions were? Thank you in advance for any input.

I shoot the dasher in f class and have been very pleased with it. Inside 600 yards it is very very hard to beat (unless you have to stake you shooting mat to the ground). I have been competitive out to 1k but if the winds are switching, you had better be on your toes. It is a great cartridge in my opinion because it shoots good BC bullets at a fast speed and has good barrel life. I will learn to read the wind and the mechanics of shooting a rifle consistently without worrying about or having the rifle beat you with recoil. A friend of mine has had several barrels go 2000+ rounds before they couldn't cut the mustard.

I've seen many "cleaned" targets at various distances produced by a 6 Dasher in F-Class. I've even done it a few times myself... :-) Like canderson says though, at 1K if the conditions are at all gusty, you better be on top of it.

Thanks for the feedback. I am getting a build done with the 6dasher and want to use it for 1000yrd comps. I am making a switch barrel withe second barrel chambered in 6.5x284.

I have used it in F class and 1000yd BR. In F class I usualy used it to around 600yds, maybe further if winds were not too tricky. I have a new barrel being chambered for it at the moment. I love the Dasher in the lighter conditions as it is an easy to shoot little tack holer which you can shoot free recoil, letting you concentrate on the flags, not the hold.
It suprised me that my best group at 1000yds so far has been with my Dasher, though I usualy turn to my bigger 284 at the longer ranges. I,m keen to get my new Dasher barrel working now though.

Falconpilot (Jim Fowler) has been using a Dasher for a long time in F-Class and has done good with it.

My intent was to try it for 1000 yds but I did not know if it was pushing the limits of the dasher. Thanks again for the feedback .

For 1,000 yards you will be pushing it.

I've been using one since 2008 for long range F-Class. If you shoot in hot temperatures with RL-15 you'll want to adjust your loading, and maybe keep your ammo on ice. Like the gentlemen posted above, things get hairy when you have switching winds; the 6mm is more sensitive to changes than 7mm, sometimes you have to work hard for a good score. But when conditions are cooperative, the precision is unrivaled. Overall I find the 6 Dasher more enjoyable to shoot over my other F-Class rifles (.308, 284). I wouldn't take it to nationals, but for local and club matches, it works fine.
