6 Dasher Alpha Brass Barrel

I am building a 6 dasher f class build and have already acquired alpha brass for it but no barrel. I am set on the Brux 4 groove straight contour with .236 bore finished at 28". My question is when selecting a gunsmith to cut the barrel should the Alpha brass make much difference? I have seen numerous smiths that have a separate norma and lapua dasher reamer but never an alpha specific. Is there an alpha specific reamer and if not which one (norma or lapua) should I have the barrel cut to?

I am currently considering having either Southern Precision Rifles or Long Rifles Inc cut the barrel. If there is a gunsmith who is more familiar with cutting dasher barrels for alpha brass I would appreciate being pointed in that direction.

The reason that I know of for the two different reamers, was because Norma produced dasher brass with a longer neck. The Lapua is formed from regular 6BR brass.

I'm guessing your a little early on the draw as this brass has just recently made it's debut. The 100 pieces I just received seem to be a perfect fit for the lapua reamer dimensions. The only thing you might change is if you wanted to use the alpha brass in a no turn chamber. My loaded rounds were right at .2695 so I would go with at least a .272 neck if I was going that route. Otherwise I think you would be fine using the traditional lapua dimensions.

I would rethink using a .236 free bore..... jim

I knew the lapua was fireformed from BR but was unaware of the neck length difference from norma.
An F class shooter and owner of Grizzly Industrial, also had a business called Bullets.com. He contracted a lot of items to be manufactured for his business. Norma was only producing 6.5x284 brass that needed to be necked up for 7mm use. Shiraz signed a contract with Norma to produce brass special for his business. These were 284 brass that didn’t need to be necked up, and dasher brass that already had the shoulder position formed. He spec’ed the dasher brass to have a little longer neck length.
