6 BRA and varmints

Looking to put together a 6BRA for varmint use. Like to hear thoughts on real world performance of various bullets available on game at various distances.

What twist rate is best for various bullets?
Freebore?
Barrel length?

My original 6mmbr was a 1-10 twist. Varget was & is the Powder I use in all of them to this day. The 80 - 88 grain weight was the go-to bullet in my GH loads. Killed many to 400M with some serious accuracy in mine. I sure miss the good old days. mikeinct

You guys are right about the 70 and 80gr bullets. The only reason I like the 55s is that I shoot lots of buzzards, armadillos, and pole cats and the danger from ricochets around the cattle and horses is less. Plus the feathers fall for 15 minutes o_O, John

55g Nosler Ballistic tips are awesome in accuracy, warp speed +>

Has anyone ever shot any of the 55g Nosler Varm, I was wondering how they hold up on coyote shoulder blades and accuracy.

That's what I was using on the dog in the picture. I have a bunch loaded for prairie dogs and like them for that. I haven't had one exit on a coyote at any distance out to 350 or so yet but I haven't killed but 4 or 5 with the BRA. They fall instantly and "shosh" inside when I turned them over to look for an exit. They will absolutely vaporize a big armadillo, leaving nothing but the shell if you hit them end ways.... John

I'm sorry I missed the varm part, I was speaking of 55gr ballistic tip boat tail. I've not tried a straight 55 varm as such, John

Is varget a good powder or do I need to look elsewhere?
I have a 6BR 14TW. Varget and RE15 decent accuracy but low on speed. 8208 more speed and excellent accuracy. My 14 TW doesn't like heavier than 70 GR. 70 gr OK for varmints at shorter distance. H322 might be good it's been a long time since I tried it. I shoot nothing but 55-68 gr bullets. I shot a lot of 58 VMax because they are always available. The 60 gr Sierra Varminter is very accurate .250"" groups.

Also have a 6BRX. I'll look up and add data later.
