6 BR Remington factory barrel?

A friend of mine is interested in getting a target rifle. I am try to get him to start with a 6 BR due to the light recoil, inherent accuracy and availability of factory loaded ammo until I can get him into reloading too. LOL

Did Remington ever produce a 700 in 6 BR? I know that they made 40X's in 6BR but that is beyond his budget.

Alternatively I have been on the lookout for a used barrel.

Thanks!

Steve,
CBI makes per chambered barrels for Remington, with a Barrel nut like a Savage. They have 6BR barrels. http://northlandshooterssupply.com/match-grade-barrels-2/criterion-remington-remage/

The 700 action does not feed the BR family of cartridges - so you would wind up with a single shot. :( :( :(

So he'd be better off with a different cartridge, like a 243 which is accurate, usable for woodchucks to deer, and low recoil - and you can find them used everywhere.

No 'smithing needed. :) :) :)

But, they can be made to feed the BR cases with a little work.
