6 BR freebore

I have a .104 FB in mine and it works well. I shoot the tgt 105's vlds and have about .100 before the shank reaches the neck shoulder junction.

Yes, 0.104 for most. IMO, you will probably do better with a little longer (0.115-0.120) for hybrids.

Already on top of that.
They just made me a no turn with .120 FB. Seems about right for the longer bullets. I've shot Berger 108s and Bart's 105s so far. I can even load 80gr FB pills at lands with plenty in the neck. Perhaps lighter boat tails would be a problem, but i don't plan on shooting any of those.

I have a .271 chamber with .090 free bore. This works great with the 105 Hybrids and 108 Bergers I shoot. With a new throat I am still above the neck shoulder junction and as the throat grows there is still plenty of neck left to hold the bullets.

What is the optimum FB for the 6BR with the 105-108 weight bullets?
I've got a 6br with a.104 FB and it's too short, IMHO. As mentioned above .110-.115 will work better. If your shooting 105 Hybrids .104 is just too short.

I just had a reamer custom made for me and my 6BR and specified a .100 freebore and it turns out perfect in my instance for 105 Barts, 105 Hybrids and 103 Vapor Trails. it put the fattest part of the bullets right above the neck/shoulder junction. It sets it up so I can use every bit of neck without dealing with the dreaded "donut". Allthough,my barrel and I both like the bullet well into the lands so maybe that's the difference. My guns and loads seem to shoot best with a square mark from the rifling and as the lands disappear over time right at the throat I have plenty of room to chase them.

We found to our surprise that many 95-110gr bullets run very well with surprisingly little "shank" in the neck ... provided you have a very concentric chamber. Hanging the bullet out a bit farther provides slightly more powder capacity. A longer Freebore also permits you to jump the bullet farther without getting into the neck-shoulder junction. I still prefer to seat in the lands, but a lot of Hybrid users are jumping pretty far. All this means that a true 0.120 Freebore may work. YMMV.
