6 BR bullet for coues deer

Going on a Coues deer hunt in Old Mexico in January. looking for a bullet that will get the job done. I have a 1-10 twist and 95gr bullet is the biggest I can shoot out of this barrel. Has anyone here shot a Coues with a 6 BR ? Any help would be appreciated

I shoot a 95 gr Nosler Balistic Tip in a 243 for whitetail and shoots very well in the gun and does what it needs to with the animal.

Looking at Berger 87gr VLD and 95 grain Hornandy SST. What kind of impact can I get out at 400 yards ? Enough to anchor a coues with a vitals shot. Just want to make sure I have enough energy to get the job done. Any specific stories associated with these bullets would be appreciated.

Look at the Berger 87 Grain Hunting VLD. Great hunting bullet!

+1
Bang-flop.
2 outta 3 of em will fly into the same hole at 400 too.

Or.. if you got an 8 twist go to the 105 Berger Hunting VLD at about 2850. All competition-conversation ends there.

Isnt an adult coues deer like less than 100 pounds? If so any bullet mentioned especialy the 85 sierra should do the trick.

Like Jon said, a Coues deer is a small to light medium dainty animal. There is no need to break bones or worry about the penetration qualities of the projectile.
If it was me (I like to eat what I shoot) I would use a 95gr Ballistic tip or equivalent and put it right behind the shoulder, trust me he will die quickly and there will be minimal loss of good meat.

The accuracy of the Nosler Ballistic tip is well known so you can feel very confident in it.

Good luck on your hunt. :)

Barns TSX or TTSX They break bone, Larry
Nosler Ballistic tip (Hunting) bullet is great they are made to break bone. The varmint bullet at 3000 FPS could hit the shoulder bone and blow up. Texas and many states where you hunt on a guided hunt won't let you any varmint bullets.. I would ask your guide or the outfitter. Larry

The hunt is in the Sonora and the outfitter knows I will be shooting a 6 BR. Its a new cartridge for me and I have yet to kill anything with it. I was told most shots will be in the 3-400 yard range. Just want to make sure I have enough energy and good bullet to get the job done.

85 gr. Nosler Partition. Not the best BC but it's dependable through a wide range of velocities.

All 85gr bullets will have about the same amount of energy with the same speed. But you want a bullet that will expand if you make bad shot.
Barns will do that. Larry
