6 ARC. Gas Gun. Bolt carrier group

Retired shooter

Hello All

Made a trip to the range today with the 6 ARC. 26 in Bartlein 1/7.25 twist stainless barrel. Gas gun.
Starting load development, using Q/L for starting numbers 10 % below max.

First time to run multiple rounds, 5 different powders, 6 rounds ea. My question for all you experienced 6ARC gas gun guys,
What are you lubing the bolt Carrier group with, and specifically the bolt and the bolt retaining pin. Will not name names, however the bolt, and retaing pin were well lubed with a well known lube. I am used to running the AR wet from years ago.

Will start weeding out some of the powders.

Thank you to all for any suggestions.

I use a moly lube and LeverEvolution powder.

Several years ago, I bought a tube of Mobil 1 synthetic grease, a quart of Mobil 1 20-50 synthetic oil, and combined them together in about a 50/50 mix.

I slobber it all over every moving part in the AR......

By bolt retaining pin, are you referring to the cam pin or the firing pin retaining pin?

Personally, I wouldn't use a moly lube only because they are very messy - I clean the BCG after 100 rounds.

I would think any lube that is good for 223 would be good for 6ARC - e.g., breakfree, Mobil 1, all the usual.

Thanks Guys

Never had this situation before, Extreme carbon. Even with a minimal amount of rounds ,and factory 108s have noticed how dirty the ARC is. Ran Lever, Varget, BLC-2, CFE 223, and VV540. Yip talking about cam pin, and the bolt.

Used a well known automotive brand extreme weapons oil on the bolt and cam pins, 30 rounds , still working but starting to require extra effort to get them to move.

Grandson in the Marines tells me they coat the 50 cals with TW25B grease. Just wondering how it would work out with the carbon.

Almost wish I could find the old LSA , it lubed, and carbon cleaned easily.

Thanks to All.

Hello All

Cleaned 6ARC. Have to edit my thread about, using Lucas extreme weapon oil. Yes the cam pin, and bolt were sticking, due to carbon, when the bolt was disassembled it was still wet with lube, firing pin, extractor,
cleaned very easily. Barrel cleaned very easily, 2/3 wet patches Accelerator. Let soak while cleaning bolt carrier group, 4/ 5 wet patches. PATCH OUT. clean patches. 1 saturated patch. Lock Ease. Done

So updated question What are you using on the bolt ,and the cam pin, that is not a carbon magnet.
Yeah I know they all attract carbon.

Again thank you for suggesting.

An AR by design is going to be a messy affair, even more so with a suppressor.

Using my Mobil 1 blend, I have no issues wiping off the crud, re-lubing, and carrying on.

If you're looking for off the shelf stuff, CLP is still a good product:

I have a tube of Mobile synthetic wheel grease on the bench, I have a bottle of lightweight motor oil in the shop. I will try your recipe, 50/ 50 mix.. Always liked to grease if it slides, and oil if it rotated..

Thank you.

50/50 is a rough estimate. I put the grease in a small bowl and pour in the oil while mixing them together, & stop when it's still thick enough to stay in place and not run. Then transfer it to one of these:

I use a small funnel and have to poke it the bottle, as it won't run in by itself.

Not suppressed.
I run a suppressor on mine and with in 50rds it is filthy!! It doesn't matter what you use for lube it is going to get filthy!! I have found LVR and CFE to shoot the best in mine and both are extremely dirty powders. Have read that factory ammo powder is nearly the same as one of those two and is dirty as hell too!! I just clean mine about every 75rds. Hate the powders but love the way it shoots!!!!

Have a great day.!
