6-6.5 Lapua or 6-284 Long Range Varmint ?

I was wondering what the opinion of the board is between the 6-6.5 Lapua and the 6-284 for long range varminting using 105-107gr bullets?

Well here is a thinker.

6-47 lapua:
1 great barrel life
2 lower recoil
3 moderate velocity
4 great brass

6-284 win:
1 nasty on barrels
2 more recoil
3 big time velocity
4 great brass

If barrels are not a problem go 6-284 but you cant go wrong with the 6-47 ether.

6mm Remington is another excellent choice, and you have a wider selection of brass, and a nice long neck--allowing you to shoot a wide variety of bullet weights. It's got more "boiler room" than the 6mm-6.5x47 so you can drive pills faster.

No real bad choices here. But I agree, right now, the 6mm-6.5x47 is looking good, unless you need the extra speed of the bigger cases. Just wish the brass wasn't so expensive.

I'm with mr Moderator on this one ...A custom 6 mm remington ..Maybe the ackley Imp version...I think you will be very pleased...For a factory gun I'd try to find a bargain 243 winchester & be happy at that...If you are price sensitive..Get a savage action set up for the 243 winchester..wait for mid-way to put the A & B replacement varmint or magnum taper weight barrels on sale... The 243 Win.is a very nice factory rd..I did one rigged up with a muzzle brake & it is just so cool to see the hits with that gun...I love the 87 Gr V-max bullet when you can push it just abit faster than the 6mmbr can go..I could go on & on about that project... mike in ct..Ps I'm not fond of the long range bullets you mentioned for any big size groundhogs..And For p-Dogs, they don't really need much bullet for killing..
