6.5x55bjai barrel life

just wondering? after seeing that the 6.5x284 is kind of hard on barrels what could one expect out of the 6.5x55bjai? I know the standard version is pretty easy on barrels but by improving it and addeing more powder how much that decrease the life of barrel? Thank You RW

I just built a 6.5 x 55 AI and I assume the barrel life will be around the same as the 6.5 x 284 as they both burn the same amount of powder pushing the same bullets at the same velocities. I think some of the history of the long-lived 6.5 x 55 barrels is from using loads from manuals that were designed for small ring mausers.

Hopefully the 40 degree shoulder and longer necks on the 6.5x55 AI help keep the hot gas off of the throat.
