Barrel life ?

What kind of barrel life do the different calibers usually get out good quality barrels? I know there are a lot of factors that contribute to barrel life but in general which ones burn up a barrel quick and which ones will go for more rounds? If you can give me some ballpark figures I would certainly appreciate it. Reason for asking, see "Help me build all around". http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/6mmbr/vpost?id=3182694

The good old .308 Winchester is a real good one for long barrel life. I've had accurate barrel life of anywhere from 4000 - 5600 rounds. That included some rapid fire, which I believe is quite bad for barrel life.

Magnums, and other intense cartridges such as the 6.5-284 when loaded for 1000 yard competition, tend to wear out a barrel much faster.

When I was ordering a new barrel, I saw that Schneider barrels won the military contract based on several things and one was with the military factory ammo, you could get up to 10,000 round down the tube and stay under or at 1 moa. Because I'm reloading and will push the pressure a little more, or not based on testing, I'll probably stay around or under 5,000.
