6.5x55AI vs 6.5-284

What are the velocities of these two calibers using around the 140grain projectiles?

Pros and cons of both??

Got to be organising my next benchrest gun after the 6mmbr is finished!

Thanks

Ackley Improved

Probably the same in the real world, just gotta go thru fireforming ;)

I made my decision between the two based on the reamer i already owned.,had 6.5-284 dies and reamer already)

YMMV,

HI
One I have been looking at doing for a while is a 6.5BRx55.
Rough out the chamber with a 6.5x55 but dont go all the way to go depth leave it a fraction short.
then finish the chamber with a 6BR Norma reamer to the go guage length with a fraction of a crush fit on standard length 6.5x55.
Gives you a nice amount of case taper, 30 DEG shoulder for ease of feeding and using Lapua brass loaded to 308 pressure levels you are comming real close to the 6.5x284 using less powder.

Talk to Dantec about this we were talking about this a few years ago and he was building one at the time.

Why not just do a 6.5x57 improved using norma 7x57 brass.

I know a great smith who has the reamer if you are interested ;)
