6.5x55 Swedish Mauser Loads

I have a very nice Schultz & Larsen M-54 300 meter rifle in 6.5x55.. The load books seem low on velocity..I'm at 45.5 H4350 @ 2770 fps and 46.5 H4350 @ 2860fps 139gr Norma FMJ..This load is higher than listed.. Worked up from 40.0 gr..H4350..Rifle has long free bore 8" twist..no pressure signs or hard extraction..What have others found with modern actions in 6.5x55 Swedish ????

Most of the reloading manuals are based on the presumed limitation of a variety of manufacturers of military actions. Some were quite soft and some - like my Carl Gufstadts are hard as you can get. You need to approach with care , but I think you are on the right track. Mine likes to be loaded hot and my best load is 120gr Nosler's with lots of IMR4320 behind it. I have an old shooting times article that listed the author's best load as 140gr AMax and 48.1gr of Reloader22 - 2822fps. Results will vary but for a 140gr is bullet I think 2800 to 2900fps is where it is at.

The Euro max CIP piezo pressure for the x55 is 55,100 psi, probably in deference to the older action, and the 'books' include a safety margin below that.
