I just got finished with a 6.5x55 build on a enfield P14. Trued the action. I purchased a 6.5 x 284 1 in 8.5 twist used Chandler barrel at a gun show. Cut off the chamber threaded and rechambered the barrel to standard 6.5x55. The standard reamer puts me about .2 from the lands. After reading allot of posts I should have purchaced a custom reamer with less throat. As the one I have is for millitary rounds. I bedded the action in a richards micro fit tac stock. I took the gun to the range to see how it would do anyway. Shooting privi and wolf gold was 1' groups. I shot factory lapua 139's and shot a gorup of 4 shots. It measured .331. I shot another group of 4 and .339. I shot another just to make sure and 3 @.328. I got these measurments from the on target software. I wanted another source of measurment besides my own. Anyway can some one explain why I had such good groups? I know the ammo is a factor. But with this amount of freebore I did not expect this. I can seat bullets out further when I hand load but still will problly be .100 away from the lands. I was going to try berger 140's to get closer but will it help or be worth it?
