6.5x55 140 Berger VLD's and 139 Scenars

Well we were supposed to shoot 3 matches...people called up Mr. Sanders and complained so we shoot 2 matches for 400 total points.

I did okay 395/400 16x. Wind was messing with up many a shooter and I am still a wind newbie!

Well I dialed in my 140 Berger VLD zero and then added 2 MOA up on the dial.
LOW, LOW, I came up 5-5.5 MOA. Temperature was cooler..but wow...the 140 A-max did not like my barrel!

I shot a 197 8x in more favorable wind. Estimate at 100 yard zero, scope sits high) would be 29-30 inches.

I could see the arch on these. I saw Mr. Heaton who loves the 140 a-max but he was running them slower and in a 1-9 twist as opposed to my 1-8 twist. Not sure on his Barre length.

2nd relay I shot the Bergers and came down 5 and then up 1 MOA and right 2-3 MOA. Sorry I don't keep a log...I know I know I have to start.

Wind was worse...however the 140 bergers cut through the wind better and I shot a 198 8x.

Scores are similar, but wind was worse relay 2. Also the 140 A-max was more prone to drift from side to side on the target which is 1022 yards I think Mr. Sanders said.

MY 1k bullets are:
1. Berger 140 VLD molyed
2. Lapua Scenar 139 molyed
3. I'll have to try the 142 SMK at 1k...140 A-max didn't cut the mustard.

I shoot .1 grain more for the Bergers and the 140 a-max and scanr shoot the same charge at different COL's but both jamed .005 into lands.

I really like my Pac-nor barrel. If your thinking about it...don't...or if you do don't come to Bodines... :)

September 17 is last shoot of the year. 140 Berger vs. 142 SMK?

I've read the post twice but maybe I missed something--

Did you shoot the Lapua Scenars today?

Sounds like it was just the Amax and the Bergers. I'm not surprised the Bergers outperformed the Amax. But I would have expected the Scenards to hold the tightest vertical, but maybe drift a little more than the Bergers.

I didn't shoot the scenars as we only shot two matches instead of three.

I shot the A-max's and the Bergers. I wanted to test all three the same day, but nada! People didn't want to stay...get done too late!

During the regionals I shot the 139 scenars and Bergers the same day and it was a wash. It was pretty calm then but the Bergers hit 30 inches or so higher than the 139's.

RHINOUT!
