I remember @Evan testing/shooting the 153s out of a 6.5x47:Anyone done this combo for 600/1000 BR? Enough HP in that case? Maybe an improved version to boost speed? A friend shoots and improved 6.5 with STELLAR results. not sure of the bullet he used.

Going to keep the x47.......I am going to try and score some VT's when they come out. I think he had the 6 GT in mind when the tested. Between 130 and 140 gr. The only problem (not sure if it actually is a problem) is that the few HV tubes I found were 1 - 7 twist.I think that's asking a lot from the cartridge. If you want to use a bullet that big, you need something like a 6.5-284 or prc and those have major tradeoffs.
I use a 260 with berger 144s and it goes over 2900. 1/7.5 twist works well but it won't last forever. The sierra 142 is a good bullet too for 1k. 10-12 grains of bullet does not seem like much but I think to jump up that much when it's already heavy for most 6.5s is moving to another level.
It's a sweet cartridge. I do know a couple guys that tried the sierra 130s and they were good, but we get gnarly wind here and so they get pushed around a bit.Going to keep the x47.......I am going to try and score some VT's when they come out.
