6.5x47 w/ 130 hybrids

No reason why the 130 AR-Hybrid won't do well in 6.5X47L, especially those with shorter freebore chambers that see most match bullets at around 2.65-inches rather than the full 2.79-2.8. I never had much luck with the 130gn Berger VLD in mine so set-up - the barrel / chamber didn't take to it at all and the 123s did much better.

Nevertheless, it has to be the COAL constrained 260 Rem and to a lesser extent the 6.5 Creedmoor which will see the greatest benefit from this bullet when in magazine fed use. I've been promised some of these bullets by Hannams Reloading in the UK one of our three or four main Berger distributors, hopefully soon, and am looking forward to trying them in this pair of cartridges in both mag fed and single-shot use.

Wow, that is some serious velocity for only 41.2gr. That must be a very fast barrel. Most guys I know running 130vld run 41.5-42 and are 2880-2920 or they are running 37-38gr Varget with velocities around 2900.

OP, the majority of guys running 140hyb in PRS run them anywhere from 2760 to 2820 (with a few guys below or above that but not many). To compare to the 140's in the wind you are going to have to get closer to 2950 or better which is why I think most guys have stuck with the 140hyb. Having a flatter shooting gun in PRS is really not all that advantageous as the overwhelming majority of targets are known distance.

All that being said, I would shoot whichever load you get shooting the best.

Thanks for the info. I do plan to at least give the 140s a test. I like the info you posted about the 130s. It looks like I should be safe to test high loads(with caution). My 40.4 load shoots just under .200 so these bullets show promise.

I've tested up to 41.7. I got a very good group (.180) at 41.6. The groups on either side where ok about .3-.4. The velocity for 41.4-41.7 showed an ES of about 30fps. I'm not sure how to post pics. The lack of a decent sized node is leading me to try a different powder/bullet combo. I do have some Varget I might try with the 130s. I'm waiting on some 140 hybrids to arrive.

How old is the H4350? With 140 gr Berger hybrid and 40 gr of powder I get 2810 fps with H4350 and 2830 fps with IMR 4350 out of a 30" bbl at 90 deg. You should be getting 2900+ I would think with a 130 even in a 26" bbl.

Brand new. Just got it from Grafs about 3 weeks ago. I thought so too. The velocity really never when up after about 41.2. I think I'm going to move to the tried and proven H4350 and the 140 hybrid. I am also eager to get my hands on some RL16. I ordered it the same time as the H4350 I have.
