6.5x47 varget load

I have 6.5x47
Peterson brass, varget and 140 Berger hybrids. I see a lot of starting loads with lapua brass, not so much with Peterson. Can anyone give me a decent starting load with my combination please? 29” barrel,8 twist bartlein,600/1000 benchrest. I know the drill as to all barrels are different and I have done sucessful load development with my 284 and 6 BRA,,,first time with a 6.5x47..

I would skip the Varget and use H4350. You will love it. Tommy Mc If you must use Varget start at 31.0 and go to 35.0. .

I have both powders,,,,4350 start point if you can please,,,,doing load development soon,,think I’ll try both with the hybrids, thanks bud, appreciate the info….

This isn't you exact bullet, but after doing this many times I can vouch for the starting point and agree with the rough idea of when you will hit compression.

ETA: they show a long test bbl, but don't let that distract you.

I’m sure that’s with lapua brass,not Peterson
Agree, but if the search starts at 36 grains, it won't matter because you hit compression with that powder about the time it gets hot. Most rigs will want to be lower than the max when they perform. YMMV

My 32" 7.5" Brux likes 39.6 of H4350 with a 450 and 140 Hybrid for 2785. a pretty mild load in my barrel.

I have two 47’s and they both like H4350 and Varget. My 25” Bartlein likes 40.5 of H4350 and the other 26” Bartlein I run 37.0 of Varget. I had a hard time deciding on which one to go with on both of them. Both with 450 primers, Lapua brass, 140 Hybrids.

I Really like the Berber 140gr LRBT and 36.7gr Varget in my 28 inch combo.
Shoots real small and consistent.
( Ive only used Lapua brass in mine )

I believe Hogdon's list loads for the 6x47L and 6.5x47L, brass shouldn't make too much of a difference unless you are playing with pressure. Start low and watch pressure signs. Great chambering, I have both.
