6.5x47 or 6x47 lapua?

I thought I had made my mind up on which caliber to build but since Ive been reading a lot, I am having trouble. I have a brand new 6x47 lapua that I have yet to fire but Ive always have wanted a 6.5. Ive read that some are pushing a 105 6mm around 3150-320 with a berger hybrid bullet, this would be better than a 6.5 123 lapua.

I have everything I need for either build except a 6.5 barrel. This will be used for fclass and steel shooting. hmmm what to do, what to do. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

JOSH - i have a 6x47 on a stolle-it zips the 105 hybrids out at 3230 fps with rl17 with no issues with pressure -cases are like new after 5 firings.when the weather warms up im going to push them a bit more to see what the upper limit is for the case.

Josh, I would consider barrel life, the 6.5 will be going strong at over 2500 rds. with match grade accuracy. I sold one to a shooter with the old loads with 130 JLK's and RL-17 @ 2950 and it shoot a 4.2" group and won a relay at 1K,with well over 2500. The 6mm will never see that........ jim

Josh, Jim is right concerning barrel life with the 6X47L. I was leaning on mine (27 inch barrel with 105's) to get 3,080 fps and after around 500-600 rounds the throat was looking pretty firecracked and the gun was just plain finicky like Jekyll and Hyde. Many guys here have great success with the 6X47L but i was not one of them. I do own a 6.5X47L no turn neck 8 twist tactical rifle and it loves 140 berger hybrids and i am pushing them with RL-17 @ 2,763 fps out of a 23 inch barrel. Better ballistics than a .308 shooting 155's.
