I have an extra threaded, chambered barrel in 6.5x47 Lapua (I have a project gun in progress with that caliber) that I purchased to make a hunting rifle, not a comp rifle. I'm thinking of having it rechambered to 6.5 Creedmoor, just to have something else besides the Lapua to play with. As best as I can determine by comparing relative case dimensions (and there does seem to be slight variations in the Lapua dimensions), the barrel should be able to be finished-reamed with the larger/longer reamer with out having to set it back and completely rechamber. Can someone with more technical savvy than me tell me whether I am correct in my thinking?
