6.5x47 Lapua recommend VV powder

N150 for me personally. It’s well documented that some 6.5x47 lapua barrels prefer slower powders and others faster, N150 being somewhat slower. People have good luck with N140, closer to varget in burn rate, I haven’t so far. In my rifle, 28in Krieger, Borden action, I see 2,925with 38.4gr with a 123 scenar which is very stout but shoots well, see below (Ignore the writing on the target, they were previously written on and I never shot those particular loads). I tend to use around 37.5gr for lower pressure. Please note, my rifle is suppressed and seems to shoot 75fps faster than others I have seen- even with factory ammo.

When I shot 6.5X47L with the 123gn Lapua Scenar many years ago, N150 was my standard powder. As @DLH says, some rifles in the calibre like faster burning powders in the VarGet/Re15/N140 bracket, whilst others don't do well with them. My example was very much in the slower burning camp.

Thanks DLH, you have a tac driver there.

The 6.5x47 Lapua cartridge is probably one of if not the nicest cartridges for deer hunting when working for folks small in stature.

I've built shorter, lighter rifles for some using 20-21" barrels launching 135 grain A-Tips. I've found that N-135 and N-140 have performed the best. The major difference is that the N-135 is a cooler burning powder than the N-140 and N-140 provides the highest velocity.

130 grain Sierra TMK work well using the N-140 in these shorter barrels.

Pick your bullet, check your chamber, load and test some.

:)

That's a beautiful rifle in a great caliber! Awesome shooting bench as well.

I made the bench myself, it’s a based on a pretty common design- I just made it twice as beefy! It’s cumbersome but very stable. I intend to mount an RCBS mounting plate on to it for my rockchucker when loading at the range.
