6.5x47 Lapua Reamer

I'm thinking of getting a new barrel in 6.5x47 Lapua, but the only reamer the gunsmith has for this chamber is shown here. I plan to use 120, 123 and maybe 130 VLD, and I think the freebore may be too long. Is the freebore too long for these weight bullets?

It will work just fine. I use a .175" freebore and have used 100 gr. bullets.

Do you think the boat tail portion of the 123 Lapua bullet would be in the neck to touch the lands with the .181" freebore of this reamer? Thanks!

This is PTG's CIP spec reamer. I have a couple barrels chambered with basically the same Freebore. There is still quite a bit of a 123 scenar in the neck when touching the lands.

The reamer print shows a .167" freebore.

The boat tail junction will be ahead of neck/shoulder junction. Go ahead and get it done with that reamer.

Thanks Erik, I will go with this reamer. Thanks also for the correction on the freebore definition. I had thought the freebore began at the end of the chamber neck.

I have a reamer with the same freebore, it is perfect for the 123`s. The only thing is magazine length, you may consider .050 " shorter for magazine feed. If single shot its a great reamer for the bullets mentioned.

Plenty of room, I run a .198 FB with 140 Hybrids on the lands they fit a 2.860" box.

I have plenty of magazine length for any bullet. My main concern was having enough neck engagement for the lower weight bullets 120-123 I primarily intend to use.
