I have been shooting 123 Lapua Scenar's but just purchased some 120 gr. Would anyone have any experience with the 120's and perhaps have some load info to share. Thanks in advance.

This works for me, 120 smk's, I am sure Scenars will do the same.

shot 1000 of them with 40.9 of h4350 .020 off in a 109 freebore best load ive ever had in the 6.5l in the .1's

39.3

PLEASE start your charge lower and work up. I have 2 of them and both love this load.

Dennis
Thanks also for the input. ........ I've been running 37.5 grs w/ 123's @ a .015" jam & no pressure signs. Sounds as though there may be an opportunity here for a little extra down range velocity. Ya' just gotta love how these 47L's shoot....... ..BTW, Dennis what does your load chrono and from what barrel length ?

Has Lapua published any loading data that can be had, bought etc.? I just bought the Berger Reloading Manual for all my Berger Bullets, but also have Scenar and Scenar-L projectiles in my stock in 6mm, 6.5 and 30 Caliber.

I shoot 140gr Berger VLD's, but you may be able to infer/extrapolate something from my load. Usual caveat: THIS LOAD MAY NOT BE SAFE IN YOUR GUN. START 10% BELOW AND WORK UP.
39.5gr RL17 gives 2790fps, 12ES, 5SD in a 28in bbl. and primer pockets still .1710 after 10 firings. Pressure signs begin between 40.5-41.0gr. 90% load density (case capacity uncompressed approx 44gr.).
Behind the 120-123gr you should end up with load densities close to 100% with RL17 and velocities that will amaze you.
At longer ranges the BC advantage of the 140gr VLD negates any advantage of higher velocity from the lighter bullets.
IMHO Like the "three little bears" in this case RL15/RL16 is too fast, RL19 is too slow, but RL17 is juuuuuust right.

My go to load for 120L is 40.7 of h4350 with fed br primer. This is in a Barnard action rifle with a 5r bartlein barrel with 1-8 twist 30inch long. I have found that these bullets like to be jammed .010 in rifle this gives you 3000 fps. The best score Ive ever had was with this load 599 47x @600yards (prone shooter).
