6.5x47 Lapua AI

I am looking for dies for a 6.5x47 Lapua AI and any info. on loads, data, or anything that might be helpful about this round.

a 6.5x47 already has a 30 degree shoulder, so you wouldn't gain very much by going to a 40 degree ackley. if you want more capacity get a bigger case. cliffe

I just built a 6.5x47 AI, and it's great. I wanted a low-recoil 1000yd round, and thought the standard 6.5 would benefit from a little more capacity,and an Ackley's less case turbulence). I shoot a 31' Broughton barrel, BAT action, Precision rifle stock. The reamer was from Dave Kiff at PTG. I run 38.4 grains of Reloader 15 with pointed 130 JLK bullets, CCI 450 primers. 3000 feet per second and very accurate. I managed to win Heavy Gun Total Score, 275/300 at the Sahuaro 1000yd benchrest shoot in Southern Arizona last week,11.3542' group aggregate) The standard 6.5x47 is just shy of horsepower to get the velocity needed, I believe.

Thanks for the info, it sounds promising. What dies are you using?

I'm using Newlon Precision blanks. I had a sizing reamer made along with the Ackley reamer. Then my gunsmith,Gary Ocock) reamed the blank when he did the barreled action. He also did the Newlon seating die.
