6.5x47 L 130 VLD H4350 max load

this was once fired brass and worked up to a case full of H4350 at 43.5 grs with CCI 450 primers,,I am not getting any sticky bolt or shiny spots on my case head,,load shoots real good for what I do,,quickload says I am over max but man it shoots good on that node,,

barrel is 28 inch Bartlien 8 twist 5R,,I think freebore is .170 but not sure about that,,I know I seat the bullets .010 off and the OAL is 2.830 ,

I run a lot of Brux 8 twist 27" bbls and 43.0 gr of H4350 205 fed primers usually yields 3000~3020fps after 100 rounds or so. I have seen a couple not reach peak velocity untill as high as 130 rounds. 44.0 gr Of Ramshot Hunter is close behind. These loads are safe in my rifles,i do not reccomend you use them without working up slowly.

That's well broke in! 39.2 H4350 has worked well with a 140 berger VLD Hunt as well. What yardages are you shooting? Have you tried the JLK'S?

I loaded 140 hybrids all the way up to 42.5 of H4350 before I saw a tiny and I mean tiny mark on the brass. I do think the primer pockets will suffer quickly

The print says .163" freebore. That primer is what I look for in my loads, a light cratering around the firing pin strike. Great loads will normally be uniform cratering among many cases and not just a small sample.

mr.big,
Great SD !!!. Load should have very little if any vertical dispersion. Fired round looks like you are close on pressure but the primer looks to still have somewhat of a rounded edge not squared off. Whats the expansion of the case above the extractor cut over a new piece of brass? .001 should be max expansion anything over that is excessive pressure. Have you shot for group yet with this load?

mr.big,
Is that a Remington action? Have you had the firing pin turned down and the bolt face rebushed? Firing pin hit looks a little cratered.

working up with H4350 I was shooting at 300 yards and went up to 43.8 but group was a little better at 43.5 so I loaded 5 and shot those with the chrono attached,,

43.8

43.5

I did extensive testing with the 6.5 x 47 when they first came out. I still shoot one! What I found was the brass can withstand very high pressures with little or no signs of pressure. I actually had velocities of 3250 FPS. This is where the groups started to open up. I processed the brass and went to load it again and the new primers fell out. So don't be fooled by a lack of pressure signs. This brass can take it but don't risk it.

I found a velocity of 2940 to 2960 to be ideal for this cartridge. It shoots great at 1000 too if I keep up with the wind changes.

My rifle is a Kelbly Panda F-Class, Brux 6.5 mm barrel with 1 in 8 twist at 30". I have had great accuracy with 32" barrels also. I have been using Berger 130 VLD and Lapua 136 Scenar L.

Max loads I found were IMR 4007SC 39.0
Hodgdon H4350 41.5
Varget (do they still make this?) 37.5 approx

my first 100 pieces of brass are on their 16th loading mainly shooting the 123 Scenar and 43 grs H4350,,

a friend of mine gave me and old Gold box of brass and I started over lookin for a load to try and get as far as possible supersonic and IDK if the Gold box brass is thinner or I got a slower lot of 4350,,I got the 140 AMax up to 2840 with 41.3 H4350 and the 43,5 130 VLD load at 3020,,I couldnt hit those speeds with new blue box brass,,,may try RL17 also,,

my throat could be getting longer also but I will watch it close and try loading a couple cases and shoot them and repeat until the primers get loose and see how long those 2 last,,

at 1500 rounds I am kinda moving this barrel to the long range steel banger duty and when I get my BRDX barrel back will try and settle on a 105-108 gr 2950-2980 speed precision barrel duty
