6.5X47 Impressed me today UPDATE

Shooting my almost finished stock I've been working on for a while. Got bored and decided to waste a few rounds. Took my gun out and shot its best group ever. The way I measure it it looks to be a high group in the 1's. I don't have a group measuring device but it's a damn good group anyway. I know you benchrest guys shoot these often but I don't and I figured instead of just bragging to my brother I would tell a few thousand other people thanks for looking, happy shooting and stay safe

5 shot group by the way.


Just to add. I finally and mean finally got done with my stock. This stock started as a improved MBR from Bruce baer with a square forend. Me and a friend with some wood working tools and lots of hours cut it down and there you have it. I have never painted a laminated stock before and will probably not attempt it again. But I'm satisfied of the end results. Thanks for looking.

I'm shooting the same bullet and powder combo and feel the same about mine. An off day is still a good day an on day is often beyond any expectation.

The only downside of this is when I go shoot a clay match and suck that I know it's not the rifle it's just the driver as always.

PS,,,just noticed the Redskins paper cup in the foreground,,,,that has travled a long way to the desert southwest !!!...I was visiting a friend in the Washington DC area a while bak and one of his buddies came by for a mint on Sunday and while chit chatting he asked if my buddies was going to the game that evening ,,,,his response was " certainly ,,Im a season tikit holder ,,on the 50 yd line !!...but I hate the Redskins,,,I go to cheer for whoever is in town playing them,,haha,,,,and I can wear all different team hats and shirts,,,"

I went to the range with mine this morning. I had leftover ammo with no more midrange matches left this year. I decided to burn them up before playing with a new 284 barrel. I shot a few at a steel plate, then shot the last 15 for a group. I wiggled one shot up, but still connecting to a one hole group overall 5/8" wide by 3/8" high.

I can barely get one shot groups that small. Great group and great rifle. As far as measuring, have you tried OnTarget software? I think you can still get a simple free version and measure right off your picture.

Thanks for comments guys. The cup is my wife's. I'm a cowboy and Texans fan. The stock is a Bruce bear stock that I had him leave the forearm square and I shaped it myself. I lot of time in the stock seeing it is a laminated wood stock.

Nice shooting. Perfect time to test that theory this weekend at the final match of the 2015 TX Benchrest 400 series out near San Angelo (between Robert Lee and Water Valley).

I agree. I sho at Tads place last year, had a great time and ate well also. Not going to get to make it this year though. I think I won one of your targets at Mikes shoot in Huntsville, very nice target.

Cool. Glad you like it. See you on the 2016 TX clay circuit I suppose. I think there may be a 400 yard match at Coolidge (mexia, HOTSA Range) on Oct 18th. I won't be able to make it, but it should be a good one.
 
We didn't stand y'all up. Man I wanted to be there but kids and other to over. I'm going to be in all Clay matchs next year. I hope everyone has a better year next year. I think you know what I'm talking about. See you next year unless you have another shoot. Take care and be safe
