6.5x47 bullet choices

I don't know if it's bar or good that I haven't given up on them yet.

I'm sure you've already gone there, but with the 6.5x47 you may want to try Varget with the 140's. It's worked better for me than H4350. I'm on my second barrel in a row that hammers with exactly 37.1 gr Varget and 140 Berger hybrids (same smith and reamer, different barrel brand).

Hammers = Three to five shot groups (1's - 3's) at 100 yards being the norm; prone, bipod, rear bag. Occasional 'bad' groups (likely either me, conditions aka me, or the barrel needs cleaned aka me also ) are 0.5 - 0.9"... I mention this because I wonder whether expectation is part of the issue you're having (expecting more than is realistic or expectation creating mental pressure, creating poor results?).

My 6x5 x 47 loves the 140gr Berger elite hunter

Mine does to 37.5 of Varget. Using 140 hornady for gongs, same powder charge but bullets are half the price

A slight necrothread here.

I did get a 6.5x284 sporter shooting pretty good with rl26 and the 140 ELD-Ms at 3000fps, have taken quite a few whitetails with it.

Also got 2 6.5x47s running, a sporter with the 130 Berger VLDs and Varget at 2820fps, and a 30" barrel for my bench gun running the 140 VLDs with 4350 at 2880. The bench one was a $90 purchase from a smith that used the wrong reamer and has a really short throat but I can't complain as it's won a couple local groundhog matches and paid for itself.

I'm getting about 2840 on my Labradar with those 140s.

My best 6.5x47 130 HVLD load was 37.9gr Varget, 2820fps out of a 23” sporter barrel. Have struggled with H4350.

I have never tried 140’s of any kind out of this rifle.

Hunting are more accurate. Berger confirms it and I have experienced it. I run 140's at 2790fps with RL17 out of a 26in BHW polygon. The 140 is a good choice. The BC is significantly greater than the 130's and you will catch up and pass them at longer ranges.

You and I think alike,I shoot 40 grns of RL17 on a Berger 140 vld, or the Elite Hunter and a CCI450 primer. Out of a 26" 4r 1~8 Brux barrel, I am at about 2850, and very good accuracy. And I have to be touching lands to shoot well.
