6.5x47 brass prep question

I have been loading 308 for a few years now, and am in the process of having a 6.5x47 built. For 308, I was recently turned on to the Lee Collet Die, and have had good results with it. As such, Lee does not make a collet die for 6.5x47, so what do you use when you neck size? I would assume a Redding or Forster bushing die.

I'd like to hear what the common neck sizing technique that is used, and what you use to bump the shoulder back with.

Thanks in advance.

I use redding type S bushing die you can bump the shoulder back with it your only bumping the shoulder back .002 or that's what I do..............

I reload for three different 6.5x47's. They all get the Redding Type S FL die, setting the should back anywhere from .001" to as much as .002" and .001" neck tension. All three rifles consistently shoot sub .3 MOA groups.

Redding type S F/L sizing die. Bump shoulder back a minimum amount and neck size with bushing .002" smaller than neck diameter of loaded round.

l use hornady match dies and my runout is nothing maybe .001 on a bad round the only down fall is that their bushings are in .002 increments I have a .290 neck chamber and have a loaded round of .288 so the .286 bushing works great I know people love redding dies but my expierence has been bad on the 3 sets I owned and they are way over price for no benefit I found but hat was my expierence now that hornady has a micrometer seater for their dies so no need for the extra cost of the others RCBS also makes a match set which my brother uses and it is very good also.

I have a 6.5X47 with a .291 neck and I use a Whidden bushing FL sizing die and it works great. There is a review of the dies on this site on the daily bulletin I believe. IMHO the die sizes my cases very well. I would look up the review and see for yourself if they might work for you.

For 6.5x47 I prefer the Forester neck/ shoulder bump die to the Redding type S. I have the Type S for .308 and .223. They are great for gas gun loading where you want to FL size every time, as I'm pretty sure that with the type S you have to FL size if you are going to bump the shoulder. For the 6.5x47 you may not want to do that. Plus the Forester comes with 3 bushings. I had to buy a .288 in addition to the .291, .289 & .287 that it came with, but at least you have something to start with. The downside of the Forester is that eventually you'll have to size the bodies, and it is not capable of doing that. You'll have to buy a separate body die.

Just my $.02, and I'm not an expert!
