6.5x47 Barrel Length

I'm putting together a prone rifle. It will be an AAI rifle. Medium palma contour. I like 136s bullets but could change if I needed to. What length barrel do you recommend?

It might be different for prone/TR for sighting radius reasons but I find 28" is plenty for FO use. Mine is mainly used up to 600yds but it was performing very well at 1000 recently in light conditions.

30'' Then you can set back if its a shooter. My first 6.5x47 barrel was a hammer at 28'' but I shot it out after only 1 set back. Wish I would've started at 30''. You know the ol' hind sight is 20/20 thing

I have a 30” for F open at 600 yds. For a Palma/TR rifle, I wouldn’t go any longer. Are you planning on using open sights or a scope? If open sights, I would probably go 30” for sight radius. The extra 2” over a 28”, will also gain a little velocity. My 8 twist Brux loves the 136 Scenar!
