6.5x284L, load data using RL17

Ok, I have searched and read many favorites.

I just finished my 6.5x284 and I will be shooting it next week.

I have plenty of RL17 powder. Has anyone used this powder in this rifle?

Just looking for a starter load and I will work it from there.

Or feel free to share your favorite load.

RL-17 is very close to H4350 in burn rate... You could start out at a light load of H4350 and work up from there>>>you will be safe..

If you running a 26+ length barrel, start at 48.0 grains of H4831sc and work up to 2950ish and until your getting tiny groups

I run RL17 in a 6.5-284. 30 inch Barrel, i use 48.5gr with a 140gr Amax, gives me around 3000fps.

please note that loads in my rifle may not be the same as yours, i would suggest you start lower and work the load up to what suits your rifle.

Call Tim at Broughton Barrels. He uses RL17 at like 3100fps!!

OK, I use R17 to exclusion in my 6.5-284- well that and Mag Pro.

My favorite load is 50 grains, Russian primer, Lapua cases and the 130 Norma Diamond line.

My new hunting load is 47.7 grains, Fed 210, Lapua cases and a 140 Accubond. I used this same combo with 142 SMKs and it was running about 2975 in my 25" barrel.

I have tons of data from 108s to 140s. I can push the 130s to 3250 and the 108s to 3450.

I have relatively little experience with the 140s. Mostly I used Mag pro and R17 to get 3000 with the new Berger 140 Hybrids but that was just testing for Berger, I don't use that bullet myself.
