what do you think is the cause for the Vel drop year over year? sounds like there were lots of variables, new tube, old powder?

glad to hear 3 groove is working. what are your overall thoughts on 3 groove vs 4 or more?I've had a few 6.5-284s over the last 10 years all being 16# +/- hunting guns.
The 2840-2900 range always gives a nice wide node that shoots to the same POI and is easy recoiling for spotting shots.
My latest one is a Zermatt Origin with a Timney Calvin Elite and a 28" Lilja 3 groove 8 twist with a Harrels Tactical brake.
I've shot a lot of H1000 in the past, this one's running RL 16 and 143 ELDXs
I throated the Freebore out to get the bearing surface and most of the boat tail up into the neck.
I've got more three groove experience than 4 groove, that's how confident I am in them. Most of my wins have come from a Lilja 3 groove.glad to hear 3 groove is working. what are your overall thoughts on 3 groove vs 4 or more?

Thank you for the input.I've got more three groove experience than 4 groove, that's how confident I am in them. Most of my wins have come from a Lilja 3 groove.
@Hoodoo can correct me on anything I'm wrong about but I feel like I get less throat/land erosion from a 3 groove.
I wonder if the 3 has a wider land than the 4?
I'm really not interested in shooting anything with more than 4 grooves. I just feel the more grooves the more tolerances to hold and again I'm guessing but the more grooves the thinner the land?
I do know for a fact that anyone who worries that a 3 may not be as competitive as a 4 needs to find something else to worry about LOL
This is one of Carson's 3 grooves I chambered in 6 BRA with a @Northridge reamer.
I started the barrel off with 35 6 BR to BRA fireform rounds to break it in.
Did a one shot powder ladder then a two shot when I thought I was closing in on where I wanted to be.
Then a seating test all at 600 yards, the orange bull is 2"
Blue black and yellow are all <1"
The 2" red and the 1.8" orange were condition I think and everything else was <2"
Great barrels from a great company!
