6.5x284 Norma

Wife just picked up Cooper LR LW rifle in 6.5x284 and was wondering what powder and bullet combos have worked for others. I have H4350, RL-17 and H4831 (older military surplus) and have Sierra 120, 140 & 142 MatchKing and Hornady 140 Match bthp. Have not been able to find any Berger’s.

I've been shooting 6.5x284 Norma for some time now, toward end of life for 2nd barrel. I couldn't get Berger bullets for a while and got talked into trying Hornady 143 ELDX bullets at .100 off lands. I held my nose and they shot well until I could get some Sierra 140 MKs then gave the remaining Hornady away. The Sierras shot better. The 140 hybrid Bergers, hunting and target, have shot best, at around 2970 fps .009 off lands over 52.5 H4831 28" Krieger barrel.
If you run it too hot and long strings your barrel won't last long. Good luck

I shoot the 153.5’s with h1000 at 2950 FPS out of a 30” barrel holds 1/3-1/2 MOA at 600 for 5.

53.1 H4831 for me with 140 Amax or Berger's. Excellent accuracy out to and beyond 1000.

My last Krieger barrel in 65x284 would put five 136 grain eps bullets into a quarter inch at 200 and an inch and a quarter at 500. That was with h4350 and 49.5 grains.

Out of the three you mentioned I had good results with both H-4350 and H-4831. I had one barrel that liked R-22 and H-1000.

My Cooper is getting fed rl26 and Berger hybrids, 3070fps in 24" barrel.

For 140 Amax and Bergers I use 57.0 of H-1000. For 136 Lapua Scenars 56.3 RL-25.

52.5 4831sc shot well in my 65284 with 140 vlds and 140 smks,,, warning<<<<<<<start lower than this is a hot load

the load I listed 52.5 4831sc is a hot load...please start low 49 at least, I know I ran it up more than 52.5 and it had hard bolt lift and leaked and eroded my bolt face, before I woke up and pulled the bullets, it was a 6 groove barrel little more resistance

Mine wants 49gr, H4350 @ 2900fps 26" Hart barrel 139gr Scenars.
