6.5x284 max OAL

hi i have recently purchased a set of redding match dies for 6.5x284 and while seating some dummy cases,so i could order the correct neck bushing) i noticed that 142gr SMK's protrude into the case quite a lot. the total OAL is just over 76mm even with the micrometer all the way out. i haven't had experience loading for this cal or using these dies before but that doesn't seem right to me!! id like to know what actual OAL length others are using. note i am NOT using this as a seating depth just to decide what actions can eject a loaded round and if there is something different with setting up redding micrometer dies.

i've been shooting 142smk at 3.080 oal. hope this helps cliffe

My COL is 3.010 inches in my chamber thats .020 in the lands. Are you turning necks? Using Laupa brass 142 SMK and the Redding dies my neck diamater was .294 everybody told me .002 neck tension or a .292 bushing what I found with the variances in neck wall thickness that I had to much neck tension and was deforing the nose of the bullet while seating them on about half of my cases so I ordered a .293 bushing and all is well
