6,5x284 feed from a 700 BDL box mag

I have an A prefix 700 since I was 10 in `77 and it was used then,,I have had 2 new bbls put on in 25-06 and this time gonna go with something different,,will the 6.5x284 fat case feed from the 700 long action with 140-143 gr bullets seated out long as possible with no mods to feed rails,,if not I would be happy with a 6.5-06,,the action is slick and always shot good with all 3 bbl over the past 39 years,,but still may have it trued for piece of mind,,

I know custom actions are the way to go I just want to restore my first ever rifle to tip top long range hammer,,

I considered a 280 but in reality it will probably be a 5-600 yard deer antelope mule deer rifle and I believe the 140 vldh at 3100 should be plenty with less recoil,,

will the 284 case feed 100% from standard 700 or should I go with the 06 case,,or a 6.5x280AI


plan to use an 8 twist #3 contour Bartlien/Brux or Krieger bbl finished at 26 inches

It will feed fine if, you use the correct magazine box.

I built my first 6.5x284 on single shot action. Picked up a second built on a remington long action with HS precision bottom metal. Feeding never an issue out of it. Buddy has 6.5x06 on long action same magazine. Feeds easily. I have a 280 AI shooting 168 gr bergers. Accurate out to 1400 on steel. Plenty of umph but at a cost of some recoil. The 6.5x284 has a lot less recoil while still capable of maintaining accuracy. Better shot placement and a good bullet that will stay together will drop game cleanly. Just my opinon. Good luck.
