6.5SLR and Starline brass

Using domestic brass (Win & Rem) is recommended for the 6.5 SLR due to the greater shoulder thickness in the foreign brass.

Does .260 Starline brass have the same brass thickness in the shoulder and neck, making it a good choice for this wildcat?

The other possible issue on top of the need to neck turn thicker makes of brass is that the sizer die may need further adjustment to push shoulders back enough. Not an issue if you're only using Starline cases, but it can (will?) be one if you use thinner Win/R-P as well. In my 6SLR, there is ca. 6 thou' difference in die position to obtain the same result.

(I use a graduated Forster lock-ring, the 'Accu-Ring' to make quick and easy setting changes for different brass lots in this cartridge.)

Just a footnote - I wouldn't build another 6mm SLR. Whilst it seemed a good idea at the time, it's not one of the most efficient cartridges out there - achieving very little over the smaller cased 6mm's and using a lot of powder to do it. Sure, it's "better" than a 243 - longer neck, nicer shoulder angle -ticks the boxes and barrel life should exceed the 6mm Creedmoor- and it's fast -3000+fps fast. But only a little faster than a Dasher for 25% (ish) more powder. Proof of of the Law of Diminishing Returns.

It was built in the heady days before COVID, when powder was plentiful and cheap and a 6mm barrel could be delivered to your door before you had chance to change your mind and build another 308 ...it does shoot rather well and I have the dies and 4 Kilos of H4831.

Agree, the 6 Dasher, 6 GT and, 6 XC ARE All, SO, Close in Velocity to, the 6 SLR and .243 Win,.. BUT use, LESS Powder for, much BETTER, "Barrel Life"
I'll use, an extra Click or Two, on my 6 XC's Scope For,.. 15 - 20% + ,.. Better, Barrel Life,..
Any Day,.. ALL,..Day !

The 243 SLR does heavy bullets effortlessly where the 6XC and 6 Creedmore strain to accomplish.
Having shot the both the 6XC and SLR.
For LR competitions, the 115 gr. Class of bullets need boiler room to push them to fps to demonstrate their advantage. If u shoot the 105 gr bullets, then there is no way a 6 Creed or XC match the speed n accuracy the SLR demonstrates with any brass life. Various 6BR variations are fine for 600 yd shooting in good conditions. Put wind and an additional 400 yds in the equation and the SLR begins to demonstrate its advantage.
A click or two for extra elevation is one issue, but that also translates to clicks on the horizontal turret as well.

The BR cartridge n its variants is a great round for 600 yd shooting. When u add 400 extra yds n then throw the atmosphere/ wind into the picture, life changes. The SLR with either 105/115 gr bullets is in a class above the little BR.

I shot the 6 XC with 115 DTACs for several years at 1 k and it did the job but used up brass doing it. Shooting 115s at 3000 made life short on primer pockets. That is the reason I went to the SLR. 115s at 3100 and brass lasts a long time with the SLR.
Do difference in accuracy between the XC n SLR.
