6.5mm SAUM

Interested in this wildcat but am finding little info on it. Can anyone direct me to resources and information on this cartridge. I would like to use the 7mm RSAUM as foundation. Any info or comments on neck sizing dies to use, chambering/reamer dimensions, loading info, powders used, experience on the range, barrel life, ect. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think you find little on this because the 6.5 x 284 is very good, and Lapua brass is available for it vs Remington brass for the SAUM) that there's not much incentive for people to venture into the SAUM for a 6.5.

trgs338,
I've been shooting a 6.5 SAUM,.295" neck out of a Barnard P-O2 action,30" S/S 1:8.5" twist Kreiger barrel throated for Sierra 155MK's for a couple of years now.
Rem 7mm SAUM cases/Fed 215 primers/58.0gr of RL-19 powder pushes the Sierra 155's at 3200 fps.
100yd zero to 1K is approx 18 MOA EL.

Leaves projectiles out of any 6.5-284 from the crown to 1K.
Shoots sub 1/4MOA all day long.

Dan:
I would have thought by now you'd have that thing burned out. Not much range time in Alaska?

PS: We still don't have a lathe big enough for fifties.

Alan,
I've been shooting the switch barrel 6mmBR/308 Obermeyer barrels, Barnard PO-2 action that you/Dan built for me-saving the 6.5 SAUM just to blow away the 6.5-284's when & if one shows up.

I'll start the financing on that NEW lathe w/a 2-1/4" headstock for you anytime you're ready!!!!!! Seriously!!!!!!!!!

I love good trash talk :) How about the Tennessee state F-class match or the F-class Nationals. We got plenty of 6.5x284s you can blow away. Looser buys the beer. Better bring a couple of cases so you dont have to go back to the store. :)

cochran,
Sorry,
Dall Sheep/Caribou hunting,Aug 8-24th) in the majestic Brooks Range of ALASKA takes precedence over LR shooting this time of year,
,priorities)& besides I don't need crutches,Fclass)to hold up my rifle, a sling,glove,coat & open sights is all I need!!!!

2644ever,
Sierra 155's @ 3200fps
1.because 6.5-284's can't push them fast enough.
2.nobody else wants to shoot them.
3.they buck the wind better than lighter bullets.

show up the 12th and shoot against high power shooter Jerry Sanders from PA. He shoots a 6.5x.284 smithed by Mr. Warner. You do have a scope to mount don't ya? :)
