6.5mm Creedmoor reloading -- greatest accuracy; questions

Berger 140 hybrid
0.030” jump
H4350 42.5
You will find a load from 41.0 to 42.5 somewhere in there.
CCI benchrest primers large rifle.
Hornady brass sorted
And Anneal brass

not a picky rifle to find a load I’m betting 42 grains or 42.5 you will settle on a good load .

my savage LRP Also liked
123 lapua 44gr. H4350 3000 m.v.
130 AR BERGER HYBRID h4350 44gr. 3000 m.v.

but it was a very very excellent barrel no chatter marks at all.

This is where I stopped when I essentially ran out of RE26… seating depth test. When RE26 comes back around I’ll see if I can tighten the group. This is primarily a hunting rifle.

I like Power Pro 2000MR which many think is too temperature sensitive, but I haven't had any problems when developing the max load in the summer.

Pro Power 2000MR, Lapua 123gr Scenar. I'm assuming SR primers. What grains in the load? Is that out of a 26" bbl? Did you find it really accurate, or more of a max-velocity load.

  1. What are your particular 65CM powder and primer choices for exceptional accuracy 500-1000yds? (If you're willing to provide.)
  2. Have you used a custom "match" cut barrel and noticed huge improvements in accuracy and reduction in variability?
  3. Have you used a longer barrel (ie, 27-29") for the 65CM and noticed improvements in velocity while maintaining sane pressures and retaining exceptional accuracy? Or have you and all the manufacturers noted that 26" is the "sweet spot" such that gains aren't attained beyond 26" in the 65CM load?

Best accuracy I've achieved is with RL16 powder and CCI LR primers. Velocity of 2,748 fps average. Standard deviation over twenty shots is 6. With 142 SMK, .3 MOA is achieved consistently. This with a Savage 10T 24 inch factory barrel, suppressor, Harris bipod and a rear bag.

I'll be using the Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor cases with the small rifle primer pocket. Have a bit of RL-16 as well. Good to see that 2700fps with Sierra MK 142gr bullets is possible.

My results were with Nosler brass. RL16 charge weight is 41.9 grains. Alliant publishes a maximum of 43.9 grains and says 2,823 f.p.s. From a 24 inch barrel.

I did load heavier and had higher velocity than my 2,748 but accuracy dropped off a little.
