6.5Creedmoor bullets

I'll second that. I was very impressed with the accuracy of the heavy ELD-X out of my .260 AI. I have not yet tried this bullet on game, but I will this year.
I was concerned about shooting a deer inside 100 yards with one. There was some mixed reviews on the SST I know it's a different bullet but I haven't heard much for reviews on game inside 100

I've tried the SSTs and don't use them as I found them too fragile in anything with more zip than a Grendel, and I much prefer the 123 gr. A-Max in that case anyway. They seem to be somewhat unique within the Hornady line in that respect, as I've had nothing but good results with all of their other game bullets. I'll put a few into a stack of wet newsprint and see what happens.

Let me know how those eldx do against the newspaper. There definitely more affordable than the Bergers but the Bergers seem to have a huge following.

Running a RPR 6.5CM. Would like a bullet to serve two purposes: long range range shooting (to 1000 yards most of the time) and a good hunting bullet for whitetails with a max range of 500 to 600 yards where I hunt. Any suggestions? I really would prefer to stick in the 140 grain bullet weight. And I do reload a little bit, so factory or something I can load will both do.

Berger 140gr Elite Hunter

My creedmoor i use barnes tsx 130gr bullets.
I use barnes tsx in all my hunting rifles.
6.5 creed
220 swift
223
308 win
All put animals down imo the best hunting bullets

Bought some Berger 140gr Elite Hunters for my Creedmoor and 6.5 Weatherby Magnum. Trying to get a day to test. I'll report back soon as I do.

any of the elds should work good i shot a deer this year with RPR 65 creed 123 amax 3100fps dead center in the chest facing me DRT never took a step.insides turned to jello, looked like i shot it with a 300 win mag.im going to try the 130ELDM's in it soon.

I've read some mixed reviews on people having issues with having to load the bullets to long to fit in their mags so it'd hit the lands. Maybe it was just bad info though...I'm not an expert by any means when it comes to reloading.
Jalen,
Most long range target shooting is done in a 'single shot" mode because of bullet length and setting the bullet out further to expose more cartridge case powder capacity. That's where the BERGER 6.5 140 VLD or TARGET HYBRID bullets would be used. For hunting go to our 6.5 135 grain CLASSIC HUNTER bullet :CLASSIC HUNTER BULLET DESIGN

For the first time in Berger’s history, we have purposefully designed a line of hunting bullets that conform to the restrictive dimensional standards set by SAAMI. These bullets were designed for hunters that shoot factory rifles and load at magazine lengths. The Classic Hunter bullets are made with a shorter Hybrid shape nose that comply with SAAMI standards; providing hunters the highest ballistic performance possible in factory rifles and standard magazine lengths.
These bullets are made to be used at magazine length. In most cases your load development consists of seating the bullet to the 2.800 COAL for the 6.5 CREEDMOOR cartridge . Then working the load up slowly checking for pressure signs and accuracy until your highest velocity accuracy node is found. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at any time.
Take care,

I have 40 of the 135 Berger Classic Hunters loaded with RL 16 and H 4350 ready to test in my 6.5x47. Magazine length has not been a problem for me with the HVLD's I am trying them because I hear they are easy to get to group well and are solid performers on whitetail. I have shot a whitetail with a 7mm 168 HVLD at estimated 2850 fps at impact and did not have any problems. Bullet blew a silver dollar sized hole on exit. Deer fell in it's tracks.

Could give them a try. Tried the eld-m and my rifle didn't like them for some reason.

Hornady ELD-M's are like sex. If you aren't getting good results you are doing something wrong. When you get good results they are usually exceptional.

Treat them like VLD's when you load them and you'll get better results. I now shoot nothing but 147gr ELD-M's in my 6.5 CM and they seem to ignore the wind like no other bullet I have shot. I'm able to launch them at 2750 fps from a 24" barrel without resorting to "case killing" charge weights.

I went with the Berger 140 Hunting VLD's. Until I can work a load up, does anyone know how Hornady's factory loaded 140 grain American Gunner (6.5cm) ammo will work on deer sized game?
