6.5CM

As a new reloader and long range shooter (PRS style is what interest me) I read this forum as much as I can to pick up tips because the guy who took me under his wing got real busy with work so I’m on my own. I bought a RPR brand new awhile back for $950. The advice given to me was basically don’t worry about a expensive rifle, (because I’m not made of money) spend the money on good glass and I can always upgrade the barrel to a Krieger or whatever else later on. As well as swap specific parts out. So I did just that and got a NF ATACR F1. I read a couple threads on here where guys bash the 6.5 CM. I get it that some guys are joking and quiet a few posts are admittedly hilarious. But some guys legitimately hate it. My question is why? I’m not a fanboy of any company or certain caliber I just got what I could afford so I could get shooting as quick as possible. Thanks in advance for the input.

Ignore the bashing of the Creedmoor cartridge. It is a fine cartridge for your purpose and can serve you well. The RPR is also a good rifle. I have one and it shot fairly well with the factory barrel; it shot a bit better with the two different barrels I have had on it since. The advantage of the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge is the availability of very good match ammunition for those that choose not to reload. I have won some 6ooyd matches shooting prone on F-class targets with that RPR and earned a Mid range High Masters classification in the process. I consider your rifle a very good entry level rig that will likely take a while for you to significantly improve your scores with a better (custom) rig. Buying a RPR is what lured me from a hunter/casual target shooter into a lost cause F-class junkie. Enter at your own peril:).

All kidding aside (MOST of us ARE kidding!), the Creedmoor is a fine cartridge. Well-balanced, easy to load for and supported like few other chamberings in the industry. As rardoin mentioned, very good quality factory ammo for just about any purpose is readily available. A very good choice.

My favorite quote from that movie is "Either do, or do not. There is no "try". So with that thought Jalen, you done good! Shoot that gun and enjoy. It's a good cartridge. The "haters" mostly hate hype, braggarts, know it alls and newbies that think they're "cool" because of what cartridge they shoot.;)

Yep....by the way, I have a few " I (heart) 6.5 Creedmoor " stickers hanging around and I can send you one. I am fresh out of patches though...:D.

Any cartridge that can entice new shooters into the competitive shooting sports is alright by me regardless of any hype or any 'cartridge envy' scoffers;).

Bring on more popcorn:rolleyes:.

Well, hold off on the sticker now. I didn't buy one at first because I'm a little "antiestablishment ". ;)Then, this establishment "hated it" so I bought one.:eek::eek: Makes sense, right? I've only put 20 rounds thru mine, so far. I'll see, this summer.:D

Well, I bought a 6.5 CM from Cabela's and liked it so much...I took off the barrel, sold it and having a 22 CM barrel made!

It's a fine cartridge. It's just not a magic cartridge like some of the hype claim that it is. As long as you realize that an RPR in Creedmoor does not transform you into a 1000yd sniper, you'll be fine.

1000 Yards? I didn't think CM fans took a shot unless it was over 1200. Ringo is right, it is a fine cartridge. The haters came about from the exaggeration of what it could really do. There are a lot of 1K cartridges, 6.5 Creed is one. It will serve you well.

Well Josh, I was offering Jalen, the OP but you can have one too if you can slander the 6.5 x47L;).
I wouldn't dare do that! I own 2, soon to be three. How 'bout I bash the BRA? Seems to be quite the new "cult" cartridge. I don't own one but I remember back in the 60's and 70's, the girls went crazy and burned a lot of them. One of my favorite times!

Wait a second!!! Something just happened to my screen!:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: Every post just centered themselves!
