6.5 x47 AR

What do you all think of an AR in 6.5x47, but modified. Disable the gas tube and have a side charging handle. Basically turning it into a single shot. Has anyone done this? Probably an Ar 10 size platform.

The AR has multiple after market parts, should be easier on brass than a standard AR, the action is plenty accurate in semi it could do better as a single shot.

I've wondered about this sometimes. I think the scope image would be rougher during "bolt" manipulation. It would be nice to disable it to "charging" for longer range stuff past 700 yds and leave it on semiautomatic for up to 700.

I got to thinking about this when I found that there is no economical way to adapt a Blaser Tactical or whatever the straight pull bolt actions are.

I do think the charging would be rougher than just running a bolt though. :'(

In UK that is the only option they have to get an AR rifle. For a 6,5x47 you would definitely need an AR 10 platform.

I built one for a gentleman a couple years ago, gas operated though. One thing found is some of the VLD bullets did not feed well due to the long narrow point. It would lodge between the lugways on the barrel extension. I tried polishing the gap/breaking the edges but they still would jam in the gap. It shot very well with A-maxes and all other bullets tried though.
