6.5 x 55 *improved

Thank you RW. It will probably be a couple of months before I have the action and barrel. I will be talking to the smith who will be doing the work today to discuss this build. I may take you up on your offer.

I have a 6.5x55 imp. 40 degree that I talked to Dave Kiff at PT&G and he said he had a reamer that worked very well and I have the print and could look it up if you like I am just getting ready to do some more testing when the wind dies down it seems like it has blown here for ever.RW
Any of the 6.5x55 improved reamers will work as long as the free bore dimensions are correct. I purchased my first one from Dave Kiff. I sold it due to the dimensions not being correct. Ordered the next from JGS. Bingo!

JRS, I was wondering what free bore were your reamers and was the reamer that you got from PT&G was it not what you ordered or was it just the wrong free bore that they sent you? Is there a way to check a reamer without very expensive tools or do you have to chamber a barrel and then check? I have seen the machine that they use and it is quite the machine, more than the average person would have. Thank you, RW

The PT&G reamer wasn't right. I'll leave it at that. Without an optical comparator, or something similar, I don't know how one could accurately check the dimensions on a reamer.

If you are interested, I have a JGS BJAI reamer used one time. No turn neck with free bore set up for the 142 grain bullets. I also have a unfired Bartlein barrel chambered with this reamer, 1-8 twist, threaded for the Panda action (possibly others) with custom removable WTC muzzle brake in the MTU contour. Also a WTC full size die with 2 sets of inserts, and RWS brass.
