6.5 x 47 reamer question

That 6.5x47 brass must be really thin for you guys to have no-turn necks at .293". All my 6.5 caliber stuff is .297-.299" to get no-turn. I think the tightest is is my 260AI reamer at .297".

I have a 6-6.5x47 reamer and have loaded 6mm bullets in the case but interestingly enough, never a straight-up 6.5.

My loaded rounds measure .2905-.291 with no turn brass. I have chambered one rifle with the JGS .292 neck. It was to tight for my brass. A bullet will not drop freely into a fired case. You have put a little pressure on it. A .293 would've probably worked, but I sent the reamer back to have it set back to a .294 neck. My other 6.5X47 has a .294 neck, and a bullet will easily fall into a fired case with some space to spare. The fired brass measures .293.

FWIW Dave steered me to the .130" FB when I said I wanted to run only the 130 VLD. The 130 VLD has performed so well it is the only bullet I have ever run in this rifle. I've got a pile of 123 Amax and Scenar's I have never tried.

I'm referencing the Berger manual and it shows that the "base to ogive" of the 130grVLD is only .024 shorter than the 140grVLD. That would indicate approx .150FB for the 130gr. The only dimensional difference between the two bullets is the .024 longer bearing surface and resulting length of the 140gr.
