6.5 x 47 question

Q: What is the heaviest bullet a 30" 8.5 twist 6.5 x 47 barrel would stabilize.

shouldn't have any problem with 140's or lighter.

Berger mainly maybe amax

The 140 Amax and 140 Berger BT will stabilize better then and 140 Berger VLD but you may be able to shoot them all.

I have a 30" 8-twist barrel in 6.5x47L and I find that the 130 gr Bergers seem to perform much better than the 140's even with the 8-twist. There is some info in the Cartridge Information section of this site (left margin of the home page) on the 6.5x47 and the author's opinion is the 130 is probably best suited for the 6.5 Lapua. That's been my experience.
