6.5 x 47 Necked to 6mm - BBL Life

Wonder what the avg BBL life of a 6.5 X 47 necked down to 6mm would be?

Obviously it is depends on things like how hot the load, powder used, rate of fire during strings, etc, but just an average one could expect.

I would be firing a 115 as fast as it would deliver good accuracy,Probably 3,000 to 3,050 would be my guess.

Anybody have any idea?

Mike, there are so many variables for bbl life. But as a comparison: the guys shooting a 6xc in NM x-course shooting with a 6xc, or similar capacity 6mm are gettimg between 1500-2500 rounds per bbl. From what I hear, it is more around the 1800-2000 mark. Keep in mind that there is a rapid fire stage. The 6.5x47 case has only a grain or 2 less capacity. In 6.5x47, I bet a bbl will last over 3000 rounds easy.

That's kind of what I'm thinking too. The main thing is the necking it down to 6mm makes it a little overbore.
