6.5 x 47 loads for 130 bergers

I am sure this has probably been talked about before, but could anyone shooting this combination give me some feedback on powder choices and seating depth. I have decided to use the 130 bergers in a 8.5 twist bartlein 26 inch barrel. Any help to cut down the load development would be appreciated. Thanks again to anyone responding.

I'm loading 38 gr Alliant RL-15 with the bullets seated to the lands, CCI 450 primers.

This, erm..., is a hot load according to some, so as usual start low and work up.

Still, I shot a 1.8" five shot group at 600 yards in our match a few weeks back.

My suspicion is that this will be a great bullet for the 6.5x47L.

The load I'm using at 500, 600, 900 and 1000 yards at the moment is,

130VLD JLK Swampworks, 0.010" jam,
cci 450 primers,
39.8 grains Vhit. N150,
2950 fps,

Jerry.

Thanks alot for all the help. I have a ton of Fereral 205m primers, so I will use those. It seems like this cartridge is pretty versatile in regards to powders and bullet sizes. I am having a gun put together by Dave Bruno in Dayton, Pa., and it should be here next week. Shehane stock, Bartlein 28", Nightforce scope, Bat action. It took a long time to save up for, but I think it will be worth it, and it can't get here quick enough. Thanks again for the help.

I would suggest not using the F205's. The primer cups are softer than others. Some shooters have had issues with pierced primers with the pressures this cartridge will run.

My load seems to be working quite well and it is 40.5 gr H4350 with the Berger 130 VLD's,see gun of the week 85). I have recently tried a switch to the CCI BR primers and the results have been very gratifying but I lost about 30 fps, which really doesn't matter that much). However, I did my work up from 38 gr again just to be sure.

Good luck and I certainly think that you are on the right track in using the 130 Berger VLD in this cartridge.
