6.5 x 47 lapua, 140gr bullets?

Has anyone out there had any luck with the 139-142 gr bullets with this chamber? I am having a fit triing to get this weight range to group under .50". The 130 Beregers work great, but I'd like to think I can shoot a little heavier bullet for 600 & 1000yds. Any help would be appreciated. I have a variety of powders and bullets. thanks

i have used rl 17 with good result with the 140s 41-42g cci 450
n550 was the most accurate but not fast enough try it 41g cci 450

i think the 130s are a better bullet for this cartrige though. check the ballistics programs not gaining much unless you can get the 140s to 3000fps. A lot of guys are winning matches with the 123 scenar in this cartrige what looks good on the computer doesn't always look good on the target. i have won some with 37.3g varget and 123's.

good luck

jeff

I shoot nothing but the Berger 140s, Both my 6.5X47 Lapuas were throated for the 130s, but both like the 140s better by a wide margin. I've shot everything through mine, finally gave up and bought 500 140s. I like RL 17 with the 140s.

I'm getting around 2830fps with HBN-coated B140LRBTs with RL17, out of a 28" 1:8tw. Krieger. Regardless of the velocities some report, based on primer & casehead appearance, that's about it out of a Pierce TG custom action w/tight-fitting firingpin. Velocity is only slightly higher out of a 30" Bartlein on one of my BAT 3L actions.

Whatever - that velocity is nothing to sneeze at - the 140 LRBT beats anything else I've shot in a XC HP rifle in the wind at 600yds. Berger's 130VLDs at 2930fps have only 1/2" more drift than the 140s at 600 in a 10mph full-value wind. I'm shooting NRA HP here, using an Eliseo RTS. Both these bullets will hold 1/2 MOA at 600 out of this rifle - which may be a far cry from what a BR shooter wants to see, but is wholly adequate on our HP targets.
