6.5 Super LR

Built one long before it actually came out by pushing my 6.5x47 reamer in deep. It was everything i could have hoped for in a 6.5. Seems like 2950 witha 140 was easy as was 3100 with a 123. I shot the 123 scenar at 1550yds and made three consecutive hits on an IPSC steel target in typical texas panhandle winds. Like an idiot i rechambered it to .260ai and it was never as good in accuracy or velocity! Go figure.....

I've got a 6.5 SLR. Trued Rem 700 in an Eliseo chassis, Jewell trigger, Bartlein barrel, 1:8 twist. Very accurate. Velocity is around 2850- 2900 with 140 gr bullets.

I use it because the brass is easy to make, and the cases stretch less than a 260. Cases seem to last a long time.

What would you like to know?

6.5 SLR in Eliso Tubegun / 29" Kreiger HV 1:8 / 142 SMK @ 2950 with N160. Very, very accurate... easy on the shoulder... my favorite rifle for 600 yards.

Twist is more a matter of bullet length than weight. I'll bet the 142 SMKs would be OK with a 1:8.5. Probably the new 136 Scenars. Certainly the 130s. Try it and see. Or go to Brian Litz' info and see what his bullet stability calculator says.
