6.5 STW

I made the titanium action that Layne Simpson wrote about in Shooting Times and Handloader as the first 6.5 STW back in 1998. I still have my notes from playing around with it back then.

I shoot the 25 - 300 WBY Mag and it's quite a round. Very fast pushing a Sierra 100 gr SP right at 4000 fps. And easy to load for.

That 6.5x68 Shuler is a great cartridge. I have a Pre-WWII commercial 98 sitting in my gun room. DST's and engraving. Its' only flaw is it came to me with Claw Mounts and no rings or scope. I have a wonderful gunsmith who is going to tap out the front and replace it with a bar fit so I can put some Talley bases on and hunting with it this fall...
