6.5 Staball in 6.5 Creedmoor?

I have 2 of, the Tikka, M+ "Longer", mag's, so I can go, further IF, necessary.
Will try, the ELD-X's at 2.825", 2.835" and at 2.850",. COAL's
My only concern is that, Peterson 6.5 Creed., Brass is, a Bit Thicker, so it, "runs up", Pressure's, a little faster.

43.3 Grains of, StaBall 65, in Peterson Cases, was, the Load that I, "settled on" using, a COAL of 2.825" on, the Horn. 143 gr. ELD-X's and am getting, Approx. 1/2 to, 5/8th's inch, 5 shot, Groups at, 100 yd's and at, 2,730 FPS from My, factory 24 inch, Tikka.
Now, on to, "Verifying", Drop's at, 500- 600 Yd's !

StaBall 6.5 and 143 ELD-X, Fed 210, Factory Tikka 24", COAL was same as factory rounds. Never tried seating changes as I figured I'd do that when I shot at distance if I needed to adjust some.
before speedup both 42.5 (2626) and 43.4 (2685) shot one ragged hole @100.
Interestingly Norma factory 143 target rounds were also 2626 during same testing, also one ragged hole.
after speedup (assuming it's done) 42.5 (2642) ans 43.4 (2729), I need to retest that factory ammo.
however my groups for both have opened to just touching and I haven't changed my process.
I think I'll back off a little and see if the groups come back in.
43.4 has always produced the best SD/ES and consistently from this powder and for me.
42.5 SD/ES interestingly were close to those Norma factory rounds as well. Both were ok, but not nearly as good as the numbers from 43.4.
43.4 is listed by Hodgdon as max, but 43.7 max by Hornady, so yeah you want to work up to 43.x
Norma Bondstrike 143 and Target 143 ammo shot the same group and location. Virtually interchangeable.
Down the road I plan to try some VV powders, minimally 555, maybe 150 or 160

I've been shooting 40.0gr h4350 and 140 match burners and virgin starline SRP at a little longer than book COL from my 6.5cm factory barrel and it's incredibly accurate. I'm planning on trying staball with those as well as possibly some 147 eldm. I may not use the 147s though and just stick with the match burners.

But i`m wondering, how or why, does a thicker case change the pressure within the same gun, same caliber, same charge, same bullet, same COAL, using Peterson brass vs anything else ??? And how much thicker are these cases, how did these cases get measured ???

I bought some (6.5 Creedmoor LRP) Peterson brass just recently, now i`m thinking i shouldn`t have bought it.
What matters is the internal capacity of the obturated case in the chamber immediately after ignition and as pressures rises. This, plus any gap under the bullet as it is engraved in the rifling lands is your combustion chamber volume. Stick a given amount of energy (ie charge weight x specific energy content) that burns at a particular rate behind any single bullet model and then change that combustion chamber volume and you get a different peak pressure as a result. Simple physics. That's why careful/performance orientated handloaders pay a great deal of attention to the capacity of different case makes.
At one time, reloading manuals would put in the small print that maximum charge weights, pressures, MVs etc only applied to the exact components listed. I suspect they long since realised that few readers took any notice of the warning as it rarely appears these days. As the compilers are no less afraid of being sued now than they were 25 years ago, I imagine they've just dropped all maximum loads a little to suit max pressures from the lowest capacity case. You still see the occasional warning though for particular cartridges - Speer warns that 243 Win sees unusually large capacity differences between makes and that its data apply only to the Winchester brass used in its test loads. One of the belted magnums (.300 Win Mag?) often has two tables depending on case weight. Likewise, warnings about using 308 Win data maximum loads in heavy surplus 7.62 military brass are still commonly seen.
I forgot I posted this. I tried some 147eldm and 6.5 staball and it shoots lights out! I need to back the charge off a bit I think. It was at book max and getting slight cratering with rem 7 1/2 primers on some shots. I think that load was about 2750-

What are your rifle specs (twist & length of barrel)?
It is a factory ss Tikka barrel, 24", that I picked up on eBay for cheap. It headspaces either right at low end or a thou or two short, but I only handload for it so not a huge deal.
